Reflecting during my first play through a breathtaking area. I hope Kojima and Decima take advantage of NextGen power. I don't even know how the *existing build will run on PS5 vs PS4slim. I know Kojima's announced "something new" in the works but my buy of PS5 hinges upon Kojima and Decima. ☔

    Inspiration for BTs?

HIryrg_1998, your truck crossed half the continent (Help me find/contact this player!)

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 04:16 AM PDT

Obviously never had the pleasure of contacting you, and tbh I don't normally mess with PlayStation account stuff so IDK how to properly contact you through it atm, but to whoever you are me and the family just abducted a truck of yours and thought you might want to know the story.

The tale actually doesn't begin with your truck, it begins with somebody else's truck (sadly I forget who they were) parked south of Heartman's lab at the second of two connected ziplines heading down. Said first truck was driven down the mountain, somehow between-ish-kinda-enough between the BT area in the volcano basin and the Mule camp south of it, and down the west side of the mule camp (giving one unfortunate mule a new bumper-shaped knot on his head) and costing multiple terrorist lives after truck 1 got stuck on a cliff on their southern border. We had to repeatedly try to retrieve our stolen cargo (6+km that trip mostly spent over less than 500m distance back and forth I kid you not) before eventually heading to the tar belt along the river which flows on the East side of the mule territory. At the time, your truck was not there. This occured 10/29/2020.

10/30/2020. West knot has been connected and we are headed back East on foot. Among other goals, plans include maintenance on ziplines in the Mountain Knot area. We passed your truck on the way uphill, tried to drive our old truck back to whence it came but got ours stuck again. After the adventures we had the day before driving a truck through places it shouldn't be, we determined that *A* truck, regardless of which, was getting driven to Lake Knot. Your truck at the time was 37%-ish durability when first we checked, and was dubbed the "Hum-V" since it looked kinda green to us at the time thanks to the rust.

On 37%-ish durability, our newly acquired Hum-V brought us safely across the mule camp up a winding path which went West below the border of mule territory, turned North up the mountain range, and cut through there territory for the last leg of getting passed it. We drove it a bit too far and wound up sinking the thing in BT tar, but escaped the area and where happy to note the sparking, rusted to hell truck was still there. We went Northeast where we would first stop to drive up Heartman's staircase all the way to his door, then East a bit more to the first prepper we found where another player happened to have a safehouse. This was the first time our main pilot, Dad, was willing to say we might actually make it to Lake Knot.

Hum-v newly repaired (and, without the rust, discovered to actually be gold?) we proceeded Southeast, East, and then Northeast to get down the mountain headed for the Lake Knot distro center. By the time we got across the river from the distro center the truck had taken way too much timefall damage to even consider crossing the pure-rock border of the stream. Solution? We unhanded the distro center of every scrap of special alloy they had (2,400 total) to build a brand new safehouse where we'd parked the truck nearby. Truck was repaired, and away we went to the North.

Note: If you see a safehouse west of the Lake Knot distro center, on the opposite side of the stream, check if the player that built it goes by the name "Bucky_is_back" or some variation thereof. That'd be where the truck was repaired the second time.

The final leg was the easiest by far, a simple drive down the road... mostly. Y'see, when we got close to Lake Knot we found we were unable to save the game, partly thanks to the mule camps nearby. Logically, we doubled back and followed the road to a spot between mule territories, saved, and went back North. The mules, of course, had caught on to us doing this when we initially doubled back, and unbeknownst to us two of them had gotten on the road.

We'd had the boost button THOROUGHLY depressed for a long fkn ways before we even saw corpse-to-be No.1 was on the asphalt. Corpse-to-be No.2 we saw comin', but that didn't really make much of a difference... or at least not to their favor.

Of this journey we have only two pictures, one on the PlayStation and one on my phone. Both are of us standing beside our glorious all-terrain battering ram outside the walls of Lake Knot. I'd love to take it to Capital Knot, but as yet we haven't quite found a way to carry cargo (much less trucks) across the Middle Knot gap so our journey for now ends here. Idk how or why in particular you parked that truck by that river, but we all had a few laughs gettin' it back over the mountain and I'd like to say thank you so much for putting it there. We had to leave the truck behind close to Lake Knot for the time being, but next time I can play I'll make sure we stop by to check up on it.

    Keep on keepin' on! :D

How much of this do I have to play to understand what's going on?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 09:15 PM PDT

I'll be honest- I don't love the gameplay, I find it incredibly annoying ways having to adjust left and right, and especially when you fall over in the water and all your miscellaneous crap floats away down the river, it's just a monotonous grind imo. But I do like the storyline. How far do I have to get in to get a good sense of what's going on? Just killed the first miniboss.
