[SPOILERS] [CHAPTER 3] Thank you risrisky, you saved the day with your trike!

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:35 PM PDT

I started the delivery with the thermonuclear bomb, and I fell down the ravine next to the MULE camp, in route to the tar lake. It took me almost fifteen minutes to figure out how to get out.

Panicked, I headed for the junk dealer, hoping against all odds that someone was nice enough to leave a trike. And there it was, that beautiful, steely silver colored, three wheeled gift from the gods. I breathed a huge sigh of relief as I slammed that thing onto full throttle towards the tar lake.

I had only a minute or so to spare and thanks to you, I didn't get nuked. Thank you risrsiky, you saved the day.

How far from the end? And good pausing points in between?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:26 PM PDT

Hey! I've finally connected the Chiral Relay/Episode 8 and am about to make the journey across the tar to Edge Knot City! I assume things are about to get rapid avalanche crazy town soon enough so I had two intertwining questions: how many hours in general am I from the end of the game if I go straight through to the end? And what Order #s are ones to look out for to act as good pausing points for the night if I can't finish the rest of the game in one go? From the sound of what includes a 2 hour cutscene, I wanna make sure I don't accidently find myself in the middle of an engrossing sequence that goes on for so long it's now 3am haha. Thanks!

With the PC launch in roughly 2 days why don't we get a fresh thread of tips going for the new Porters in the field!

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 05:30 AM PDT

This has always been a really supportive community and I don't think anyone would have too many issues with a nice tip post.

Lets try to keep everything spoiler free. Gear and buildables are fine but don't go into detail of when you unlock stuff!

Here are a few of mine:

    1. Always keep a spare pair of boots! Sam will be grateful, you won't feel like a monster, and it really does help a lot while on the move.

    2. Don't be afraid to fight. One of the main enemies you'll have to face that is properly fightable is essentially really angry delivery men who seem like they are better geared than you. They can be intimidating but most are really weak against a good punch or two in the face and Sam has strength to spare!

    3. Take time supporting the buildings/supplies other Porters leave in the field. It takes two seconds to thank a Porter who put down that really useful ladder and it lets other players know they've helped. You may wake up to find a tower you built or some supplies you left really helped save the day when things got rough for someone else!

    4. Return packages you find in the field! Sometimes a fellow Porter may fall in a fight or just whoops a package, pick it up and deliver it if you can!

    5. Keeping extra repair spray should be on board with boots. You can sort-of spruce up any damaged packages you might have and save yourself some extra headaches along the way.

    6. Do missions as you come across them. You don't have to do all of them but instead of rushing headfirst into a new area make sure you get as many connections as you can. The scale of the game is quite large so take your time enjoying the experience.

    7. Scream. A lot. You can yell in the game and more times than not you'll get supportive words and hellos from other Porters that were recently in the area. I found myself yelling every few minutes just because it was kind of a nice touch...

Those are just some of the ones I can think of for the first 5-10 hours. Good luck to all incoming Porters and remember to enjoy the game for what it is! We've all got your back and the connections you make are worth every step of the journey.

    Also cherish your BB.

Thinking of picking it up on PC, have a few questions.

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 05:09 PM PDT

    Hi!

Sorry if most of these questions are probably asked a lot, but the search function isn't exaclty helpful for some reason. As the title said I'm interested in picking up the game for the first time on PC, never played anything by Kojima before, and has read mixed stuff about death stranding mostly about its "slowness". I mostly enjoy games that have an interesting story that can pull me ahead in it, and even in a lot of games i dont care for the combat and do it as a "chore" to get to more story.

Is death stranding slow in terms of how the story unfolds or slow only in the fact that you walk and there is not "traditional" gameplay for most of the time?

Some of my favorite games are walking simulators (firewatch, stanley parable) but they always have quite a fast paced story, and can't really find concrete information about death stranding on this.

    Thanks! :)

I was today years old when I realised the paths in the snow are not premade and are made by me traversing the same path over and over.

For anyone who was skeptical or on the fence with buying this game, how did you end up enjoying it?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:22 PM PDT

I've been on the fence w/ buying DS since its release. It looks like an absolutely gorgeous world, but how's the rest of the package? Is there an enjoyable story behind all of it, as well as interesting (which I know is subjective) gameplay?

I enjoy games that are mysterious and dark. I've noticed that Mads Mikkelsen is featured in the game, which is really cool. He put on a stellar performance in the TV series Hannibal, so it'd be cool to see him in the game. I also noticed through trailers that Lea Seydoux is in the game as well, and I am familiar with her from watching French films.

Overall, if you were skeptical going in, how did you end up enjoying the game? Or didn't you?

Anyone else going to start a new playthrough on PS4?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 10:59 AM PDT

I do my video gaming on console mostly so I'm not getting the PC release, but all the talk about the PC version is making me want to start a new playthrough- maybe even get platinum.

[Endgame] I beat the game. Love it!

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 08:42 AM PDT

I know I am late to the party even thou I had the game since day one ,I would like to hear from those who, like me, just recently got to play the game or just beat it.

I found the game very unique, I cant imagine any other developer taking a risk on game like this. Also, having the name of Kojima carrying prestige helped for many people to give it a try in spite of how divisive the reviews were, I almost didnt buy it but I am glad I went for it anyway.

The soundtrack is superb, the story a bit convoluted but intrigue, and the characters are the best part of the game, Cliff and Higgs being the best antihero and villain in my opinion. Amazing performances from the actors.
