[Episode 14] Finally finished Death Stranding. What a phenomenal game.

Some thoughts on the final episodes and the overall game:

    • Order 68 was freakin' rough. Couldn't fabricate anything and all my structures were absent. What little stuff I had that got gathered at the Distribution Center didn't help much, so I had to mostly rely on the tools left by other players. Very cool section though, lots of tense encounters.
    • Saw the "Sam is Cliff's BB" twist coming right when Sam experienced a flashback (despite not being connected to Lou) after being hugged by Cliff. That said, it wasn't any less impactful.
    • Definitely not the first person to say this, but Die-Hardman's confession scene is fantastic. Kudos to Tommie Earl Jenkins for the incredible performance.
    • Sam hugging Deadman is the best part of the game, and nobody can convince me otherwise.
    • The final delivery made Death Stranding one of the few works of fiction to make me shed a tear. That makes it a truly special experience.
    • Though I enjoyed the story, I'll need to do a second playthrough to fully grasp it, or at the very least look up a story explanation from someone with a bigger brain than mine.
    • I played all of Death Stranding on Very Hard, but the difficulty didn't live up to it's name. However, I found the game to be a unique and engaging challenge, can't really articulate why at the moment.
    • The Half-Life content is rad. With the exception of the Gordon Glasses and Valve, the items are more than just silly hats or alternate skins. For instance, the Gravity Gloves can be used to grab cargo, cryptobiotes, and chiral crystals from a distance. Quite useful, even when the Sticky Gun is unlocked.
    • While the PC port is decent and runs well enough on my potato 1050 Ti, it really needs a proper patch. I've had the game crash on me way more than any game should. Not often enough to negatively affect my overall enjoyment, but extremely obnoxious nonetheless.

    I love this game

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 07:04 PM PDT

I don't like open world games because I kinda get bored of them 5 hours in. I have picking up items OCD, I hate infinite missions, I hate building structures in games. This game has all that but I can't stop playing it, I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a while, and I'm pleasently surprised. I'm enjoying the slow burn in the gameplay and the story, it is easy to level up the knots to 5 and when moving to a different area the landscape always surprises me. I'm reading every piece of text in it, and taking my sweet time. I'm 20 hours in and it's been 4 days since I bought it. I just wanted to share that, this game is a masterpiece for me. And not because Kojima made it, but because is so different to other games in a great way. I'm playing Death Stranding for a long time, It is definetly in my top 10 now but it desperately needs an portable mp3 player like in mgs4.

I enjoyed delivering so much that I forgot that there was a story

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:58 AM PDT

    Does anyone else just deliver?

I was just finishing my delivery on the Lake knot city collecting them stars, but then I got the achievement 700 deliveries while still in the middle of episode 3, then I thought "I think I enjoyed delivering too much".

But rest assured I'm in episode 5 right now and after this episode, I'll probably just deliver again 'cause its fun.

    Edit: spelling
