    Advanced Tips & Things you might have missed in Death Stranding *no story spoilers

    This game has an extreme amount of details and secret mechanics, it's been hard compiling them all in a list. Which I now feel is complete. I have to mention I got an early list of "basic equipment tips" which is where you might find most other things that aren't on this list.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Before you read on. These are things that I fond one way or another, that was kind of rewarding to figure out either by accident, someone else or by reading the emails. So read at your own pace. I'll try to start with what I think it's more common knowledge and go towards what I think people might actually not know.

    1. NIGHTMARE REPLAY you can replay nightmares if you look at the figurines in your room.
    2. ICON POWER-UPS Some icons when touched will give you a little boost of something. Speed, bond with BB, stamina refresh, likes, health; I wonder if some icons have some hidden functions.
    3. WEATHER FORECAST once the weather station is available you can check the map, and press R3 twice, and you will see where there is rain. And by pressing up or down can see if the rain will move, stop or continue in the next 10, 20, 30 minutes which you can either fast wait in a rain shelter, or you can wait it out in real-life minutes.
    4. HOVERING CARGO You probably already know you can link carts together like a train, and link them to you, but you can also use the hovering cargo as a hoverboard to ride downhill, pressing L2/R2 to stop and square to push forward, but even more fun is you can link a cargo behind you while you are riding the hovering cargo. You can also with enough speed hover over rivers and tar pits!
    5. CHYRALIUM CRYSTALS Killing BT's will yield crystals you can pick up where they die.
    6. TRUCK CARGO LIGHTS White bars/lights behind the truck indicate how much cargo you have, Once they become read, you've reached or are nearing maximum capacity.
    7. SECRET RIDE MOTORCYCLE There is a special *faster vehicle item you can find in the waterfall close to mama.
    8. REQUESTING HELP WHEN FIGHTING BTS If fighting a large BT you can call for help by pressing the PS touchpad button to have another "player" help you with equipment.
    9. BATTLE FORECAST You can tell where BT's might be by looking up at the sky. If you see circular rainbows or black strands trickling down, you can be confident there is BT's in that vicinity.
    10. ADVANCED BIKE TIPS Pulling and holding wheelie on a bike makes it safer to navigate through rough and rocky terrain, with less chance of crashing; You can also jump while doing a wheelie at high speed and kind of hover above the air, at the expense of taking cargo damage (but it's fun to do); additionally if you ever run out of battery you can wiggle left and right and the bike will move forward slowly, this can be useful if you are near a power generator.
    11. OTTER HAT The "Otter" hat which is given by the cosplayer (which is actually Conan O' Brian) actually has a use. It makes you swim more swiftly.
    12. TRADING WITH PORTERS If you see other porters, they will sometimes give you stuff, and you can also equip something in hand drop it for them and sometimes they will pick it up, this also gives you an achievement.
    13. SECRET PREPPERS There secret preppers in the first and second area, which I personally missed. If you look at the map and press "R3" to check the chiral network, blank spaces will ALWAYS have a prepper or outpost somewhere within that region, but sometimes you don't have a mission to lead you to them.
    14. INTERACTING WITH MULES: Mules will not attack you if you have no equipment to be stolen, and in fact, you can even taunt them by shouting. You can also use EX grenades with mules for some "interesting" results. This one is pretty obvious but it always gets mentioned, using bola gun's to the head makes MULES instantly unconscious, rather than having to go over and kick them. This will show up with a "star" symbol above their head, rather than *handcuff sign
    15. EVERYTHING DIES IN THE TAR You can dispose of bodies in the tar pits.
    16. ADVANCED WEAPON FIGHTING using lethal rounds on BT cause some damage, using hematologic rounds also causes some damage. However, if you expose a wound with a hematogenic bullet and then shoot with lethal rounds BT will take increased damage. It is also possible to throw a hematogenic grenade to a BT and shoot through the mist with lethal bullets effectively coating them with hematogenic properties and cause extra damage.
    17. SCANNER CANCEL You can cancel MULES location scanner by using your upgraded Ordavak scanner before the ping hits you, or by using the rock hologram given by the film director. But did you also know you can avoid getting pinged by jumping over the scanner wave?
    18. LOST CARGO MECHANICS If cargo is passed on from player to player, it's priority increases, you also get likes for entrusting cargo to other players. So feel free to grab all the cargo in a locker you see and entrust it to other players as you will get likes and raise the value for the next player that does complete the delivery!
    19. EYES UP HERE LADY! If you look at sam crotch long enough he'll punch you.
    20. DAYDREAMING if you check up on BB long enough you'll see some special cutscenes.
    21. FEET! IF you look at Sam's feet there is also some cut scenes, I believe they might be different if you have your feet damaged due to lack of proper footwear.
    22. MIRROR, MIRROR There is also a cut scene here, which I was not able to trigger but have seen online. It's supposed to come randomly in the mirror, either by looking at it or interacting with it.

    That is all that I know for now. If you have any other tips please share But please check my early list of simple basic equipment tips first.

    At first IGN tried to rig the poll by adding Death Stranding after 7000 votes were already cast, without allowing people to change their votes. After that did not work and Death Stranding still reached the first place, they begged people to stop voting for Death Stranding and mocked those who did:

    [UPDATE] - Looks like I accidentally hopped on the path halfway, here's a pic with additional path I found: https://imgur.com/a/HzhhUem

    I was walking in the large offshoot of shallow water between South Knot & Timefall Farm, and when I got to the end I kept going and ended up finding a hidden path in the tar that kept me from sinking. I followed the path but it just turned to the right and went towards the land. I feel like this can't just be all?

    Here's an image of the path I took on the map, and then an image of the small yellow dots that I saw that led me along. Has anyone found more to this?
